Title: Burwell & District
Post by: busman on April 26, 2008, 07:54:36 AM
I just about remember this operator. I demobbed in October 1978 and Eastern Counties took them over in June the following year. At the time of the take-over I was in the driving school at Hills Road and we used to drive over to Burwell with X64 to collect various bits and bods.
From my collection as at the time I did not own a camera we see the first of the new order one of our RE's that was loaned to the B&D drivers, most of whom had never driven a Bristol before.

Interestingly one of the first vehicles allocated to Burwell, which had become an outstation of Newmarket after the takeover was the allocation of the last Bristol MW in the fleet which was either LM640 or LM641.

9 DER a 1963 Daimler Fleetline restored by the B&DPG photographed on it's first outting to the Southend Rally in 1982. All that remains of this vehicle now is the lower cab area which is on display in the Burwell village museum.

932 BCE 1962 Plaxton bodied AEC Reliance. I understand this may have now being taken off the road and is to become a static display in the Burwell village museum.
