Title: Go Ahead - Abroad
Post by: chopper on August 08, 2018, 08:12:38 PM
On a recent visit to Singapore I noted that one of the bus operators was a subsidiary of the Go Ahead group. Mainly double deck tri=axle vehicles though there were single deckers around too. Unfortunately I didn't ride on them.

On another point some of the tour coaches are fitted with Fainsa seating. They were far more comfortable than even the fist class ones fitted into the fleet of 387 EMUs.

Chris’s posting prompted me to read more on this topic. Thanks to Chris for the interesting lead.

The Go-Ahead Group Annual Report and Accounts for 2017 tells that the group won a Singapore contract in 2015 and goes on to say….

‘In September 2016, we began operating a bus contract in the Loyang district of Singapore, running 395 buses on 26 routes for a minimum of five years. Singapore’s bus market, which has a similar contract structure to London’s, offers opportunity for further growth with 11 contracts scheduled to be tendered over the next nine years. Go-Ahead submitted a bid for a contract in the Bukit Merah region in August 2017’.

The report shows two Singapore based subsidiary companies named Go-Ahead Seletar PTE Ltd and Go-Ahead Loyang PTE Ltd (Seletar and Loyang are local regions of Singapore).
