Steven Knight Media  8)  is reporting that 34879 is possibly set to be disposed of.

It had an accident sometime in late 2018 and parts were taken and used to repair 35104.

Just got back from a few hours out and about in town noting several unusual occurrences.

37225 and 36011 both seen on Citi 1 duty.

10867 and 10878 both seen on Citi 5 duty (Dogsthorpe/Cardea)

3 double deckers seen serving the Citi 2/3 duty. 10010, 10868 and 10053. Also serving the 2/3 duty was 34834 which has rarely been seen in Peterborough since its repaint into the revised version of the corporate livery.

Also 39682 was serving the X4

Westgate closed by a burst water main near John Lewis/Beales. Citi 1/2/5, 36 and 37 on diversion. The driver of an X1 coming into Peterborough wasn't aware, drove through part coned of road with sign saying road closed. Had to reverse about 400 yards onto Broadway to get out. X1 seem to have various routes into Peterborough, I have been on 3.

36011 on citi 1
Only saw two Go West in service 34426 cit 2/3 and 34530.

Could be all the Peterborough and Long Sutton buses have these signs in the window or available to be put up at any given time

Makes you wonder why they dont or didnt ditch the Go West business whwn Kings Lynn closed unless they are or were looking to sell the route

The route was subsidised by South Holland Council at one point not sure if it still is but I guess the contract is between them and Go West amd not Cambus but thats a stab in the dark

Bus route subsidies are handled by the county council, in this case Lincolnshire.
The 505 has only one supported service 1820 Kings Lynn- Spalding and the 1940 return journey Mon - Sat.
A review of supported services is under way and should be known by 19 February.

CallConnect services are expected to be untouched

I hope everybody was ok. The damage doesn't look too bad from the picture. There's plenty of withdrawn Darts at Bedford to pinch the parts off to rebuild the front end should Stagecoach decide it's worth doing on a 13 year old vehicle. Then again its engine could be used to resurrect one of the withdrawn darts as was done when 34879 donated its engine to 35104

Steve Knight also reported that training darts 34421 and 34422 from Cambridge have Peterborough have been loaned to Bedford to cover shortages,  seems strange they have had a dart in the yard with no MOT and asking for loan buses, now they are planning to send a MOT failure back in return

My thoughts are that it would have been easier to put an MOT on 34425 amd kept it at Bedford amd Peterborough to keep their training dart

34421/22 are at Bedford due to an increased vehicle requirement due to the closure of Bromham road railway bridge by Network Rail for the Midland Mainline electrification. The decision to move 34425 was taken after 34421/22 had already moved. They have both been in service in Bedford for a few days now

34426 was on Peterborough citi services this morning (Cannot remember which one) - this still
displays Stagecoach in Bedford fleetname, but has Go West legals - so confusion all round.

Seems to be more and more older vehicles on Citi services these days than 12 months ago, what with
04 darts and older Tridents appearing on a regular basis.

I recall in ECOC days Peterborough seemed to be forgotten in terms of decent vehicles, it appears
that history is repeating itself. Unless of course there is a cunning plan that we do not know about!

An article on the Peterborough Telegraph website suggests that Stagecoach in Peterborough
may finally be moving from their Lincoln Road depot.

Having been in existence since the trams came to Peterborough in 1902, it is about time
it was relocated.

the full article is here:

https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/transport/stagecoach-bus-depot-in-peterborough-expected-to-be-relocated-as-council-plans-bid-for-site-1-8880085

However, I will believe it when it does happen. I have been in Peterborough for most of my life and
this has come up a number of times and nothing has happened. We shall wait and see!

I love that the pollution of public transport that will now (in theory) have to drive out of Peterborough to get to the depot increasing dead miles which in turn would increase pollution (I'll reinforce the 'in theory'). Whole public transport should be seen as the green choice of transport and is probably a lot cleaner than  a lot of cars that are on the road.

My other favourite moan is from people who are residents that live close to the depot. Weirdly the depot was there when they moved in, if the depot was such an issue then why move to the area????

I cant help but think it's more poor journalism than reality however how come public transport (especially bus) is seen as dirty and in the way.

I think that's my frustrations.

Is it feasible that Stagecoach could have the depot out of town altogether, surely the Lincoln road site is prime for houses, would be some profit there for Stagecoach, the money from a sale could build a better yard with better facilities on the outskirts of town somewhere near Amazon maybe or Boongate

The problem is that the Stagecoach Peterborough bus depot is listed plus there is fuel tanks underground.

The Stagecoach Lincoln Road bus is the ex tram depot.

Title: Re: Stagecoach In Peterborough Happenings 2019

It doesn't seem to have an operational basis but rather a bureaucratic one.  Like the transfer of Oundle to Kettering(?) and Midlands company, Long Sutton (in Lincolnshire) is being transferred to the Lincolnshire company.  Long Sutton is further from the nearest Road Car depot than it to Peterborough.  In LRCC days, the depot was at Holbeach which is further west and I think they had a Boston depot then. Now the nearest depot for maintenance would be Skegness - about twice the distance from Spalding compared with Peterborough. Also if Long Sutton is short of drivers, covering the duties from Skegness would involve more travelling time.

The Stagecoach Lincoln Road bus is the ex tram depot.

The Lincoln Road bus depot is not a listed building, and there are several instances where underground fuel tanks
have been lifted, and provided all the necessary works are carried out when they are removed (which would be taken into
consideration in any sale price) there is no reason they could not be removed.

As an aside, there are websites that list all the listed buildings

https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/england/peterborough#.XLBQb-hKiUn

And also my friend in the planning dept at PCC has confirmed to me it is not listed.

Peterborough seem to be pinching the oldest Darts from Bedford. Just the very scruffy 34428 (KV53EZE) left at Bedford now of this batch new to the depot in 2003 replacing the nasty L reg Volvo B6's.

Ex Bedford in Peterborough.

34424 working 08.16 from Bretton Centre (citi 3) failed at Heltwate this morning, rear end up and engineer at work.

The 08.26 from Bretton didn't appear, the 08.36 was 34426 which picked up all the passengers. 34425 passed heading towards Bretton Centre on the other side of the road.

The trainer e200 SN04 ??? used by a local training company failed on the northbound Bourges Boulevard around the same time, engine compartment open and what looked like a pool of liquid on the road.

Go West - 18344 and 18416 both on citi 1 this afternoon, no hire signs visible.

Would imagine it will be on loan unless they are gonna move all the Peterborough MMC400s, besides thought they are gonna be getting the ex London Scanias unless they are all going to Peterborough instead

10870 is definitely at Cambridge & was being used on Ser 5 on Thursday.

Of the ex-London refurbished Scanias, at least 3, if not 4, have been delivered from ADL, South Anston. Those definitely here, in Cambridge, are 15078/81/3  LX09AFF/N/U which have entered service, having been reported on the 1s.

19068 was sitting spare in the last high numbered bay about 14.30.

Rode on 10880 on citi 4 to Peterborough City Hospital. A couple of trees hit the upper deck, first one in Aldermans Drive and the second at the roundabout Atherstone Ave/Cranford Drive. The lady bus driver coped very well with the school traffic around Thorpe School, think quiet a few of the car drivers decided a d/d was not something to argue with.
