Nice document from Travel Choice.

Why isn't there any buses though on Boxing Day or New Years day? Queensgate will be open on both days?

It as always been like that before Queensgate started to open up on A Boxing Day and New Years Eve.

Give the staff a break, surely Peterborough's bus users can manage for 3 days a year without a service!

You could argue that the staff are providing a public service for the benefit of the public  :-\

What about all the low paid shop staff who will be working on Boxing Day/ New Years Day. How are they meant to get into work  ???

Its quite simple.

Shops shouldn't be open on Boxing Day - they never used to be, which is probably the reason there are few buses on the day.

I have a young family and want to spend some time with them.

What's wrong with that?

I totally agree. We live in an insane shopaholic society.

Nothing wrong with staying at home with your family and I agree that shops shouldn't be open on Boxing Day or New Years Day BUT they are. So we don't have a bus service on Boxing Day or New Years Day for the benefit of the bus companies employees rather than the bus companies customers.

Many entertainment premises are open into the early hours - no buses to get home.
Hospitals are staffed and open 24/7 - no out of hours buses to/from them either.
Places of worship are often open when and where  buses do not run as well.

As I said before, let the staff have their break!

Do the staff have to take the days as holiday? Or are they "free" days off?

Do the staff have to take the days as holiday? Or are they "free" days off?

Up at Stagecoach Strathtay, we get Christmas Day & New Years Day off.
Boxing Day & 2nd January is a Sunday Service.

Staff are requested to put their names forward to work these days but they can only work 1 of the days.

Folk that are off (like me) use up 4 days of the yearly holiday quota (33 days).
