Operational issues 10/12/08
« on: December 10, 2008, 05:37:02 PM »
Taken from PCC website:

Due to operational issues the Local Link 407 service will not operate between Serpentine Green and Orton Northgate from 17:45 to 22:15.

Just wondering what the "operational issues" are?

This was due to driver shortage through sickness.

Whilst other duties had been covered through the day by using spare and drivers on rest day, it was not possible for the depot to cover the evening shift without disrupting todays shifts.

Welcome to the real world of bus operation PCC.  Do they really need to cut services because they do not have enough staff, or is it simply that the staff they have don't want to do the late shift around the Ortons?

When I was an operator, the only time we as the operator ever cut journeys was when the weather or an external influence prevented us from operating safely, and even under those circumstances PCC did not like me taking that decision.

I assume the Traffic Commisioner's office has/will be informed of this failure to operate the service as registered?
