Companies House is now showing the following:

04240396     L     FOTOPIC LTD     in Liquidation
05706338    L    FOTOPIC.NET LIMITED    in Liquidation

So assuming the site is run though one of these companies it looks like the site may well be lost.

According to a posting on East Anglia Buses on Yahoo Groups Fotopic Limited went into administration in May 2008 where it has remained since.

The site was purchased and being run by ANY-Web Group / Snappy Designs. The reason for the downtime is due to a technical fault. It is expected to be back up later this evening.

None of this tells their clients what has happened to any photographs that are on-file with them.  Why haven't Fotopic been in touch with their clients, especially those of you who have probably paid to use their facilities?
Cheers,

Tony

Copied from another group hoping to calm things done

ome of you may be reading other Yahoogroups of the problems with fotopic.
It is a trying time with members who have sites and obviously the users are
anxious to know what is going on.

I post this information as below:

Fotopic.net was taken over by a company called Snappy Designs Ltd in May
2008 owned by ANY-Web Group, it is offline today due to a technical fault at
Kingston Communications and I've been told by Snappy that it will be back
sometime tonight (Friday). No statement has been issued by Fotopic.net.
Directors have told me the company is solvent and this isn't related to it
at all - I'd suggest you wait for the site to come back then I'm sure an
official statement will be forthcoming."

I only ask people to be patient what is going on and I am sure if any news
arose myself or whoever has information to post to the group. Please can I
ask people restrain on any financial situation with the company as it is off
topic. I do respect what impact it has to the hobby and people who have
spent many hours on their web site like myself.

With thanks to Terry Wong Min

Hi all --Apols for the late response.

Firstly, Nicky and I sold Fotopic.net in May 2008 (to a company
called Snappy Designs Ltd which is part of ANY-Web Group), so please
take it as read that we've got limited visibility on what's going on
right now, and this is based on what I've managed to glean from the
new owners. Now, some details: I got a phone-call that Fotopic had
disappeared this morning.

Since then I've been trying to find out what's going on, and it turns
out that Kingston Comms had dropped Fotopic from its route-map owing
to a system fault; I understand it will be back as soon as they
inject it back into the global route, and things will be back to
normal.

Snappy is reportedly solvent and while I can't see any accounts I've
no reason to believe this isn't the case. I'd suggest that once the
site is back, you drop an email to orders@fotopic.net"
or help@fotopic.net" if there's issues with Printshop payments.

Finally, I'm keeping a pretty close eye on this but there's not much
I can do while it's offline. When it's injected back into the route-
map, it'll be visible within 5-10 minutes for the UK but the rest of
the world may take a bit longer. Basically, hang on there, it's not
gone bust but it might be day before it returns; as an old friend of
mine said "one day this will all be an anecdote".Best wishesJoelx

Received this email today

"Hi there --
This is a short message from all of us at http://fotopic.net/ - the
online photo gallery you are registered with.
On Friday 2nd January 2008 photo sharing site Fotopic.net suffered a
core equipment failure while upgrading the server and network capacity.
As a result of this the Fotopic.net website was unavailable from
approximately 9am on Friday 2nd January.
Despite our best efforts to resolve the situation the gallery service
remained unavailable until approximately 10:30am on Monday 5th January
2008.
As a result of this outage we are examining our hosting capability and
contingency plans, but wish to assure customers that Fotopic.net has
not ceased trading and will be enhancing its services during 2009. No
data or images have been lost during this time and all systems are back
to normal.
We apologise for the situation which was ultimately out of our control,
and would like to thank customers for bearing with us.
Best regards,
Snappy Designs Ltd trading as Fotopic.net
http://fotopic.net"
