Delayed
« on: January 12, 2009, 06:57:39 PM »
:(  It's about time the GB got some good publicity.

On a only very vaguely partially related note... does anyone know if the surcharge the council will take from GB fares for use of the guideway still going to be the 10% that was originally stated around in the proposals?  Or did that idea get taken out before the plans were finalised?

Would this count?

Quote from the Sunday Times article:-

"St Ives to Cambridge city centre takes 50 minutes in the peak period by car but will take 32 minutes by bus."

The old H&D 553/554/555 timetable had a journey time of 30 minutes between St. Ives and Cambridge, and Whippet 1A via Bar Hill takes only marginally longer. So much for the "massive savings in journey time" promised by erstwhile Transport Minister Ruth Kelly.

Presumably the saving will apply versus the old X14 i.e. to/from the Science Park, to represent the biggest swing.

So, running time on the X14... oh wait, it's been cut  :o ;D

Oi!  Do you mind?  This is the cynics 'r' us meeting.  Optimists are having their class upstairs and round the corner in room 23.  But I wouldn't bother looking for it because you'll probably just get lost anyway.

Joking apart, I want good news, and I'm sure we all do.  But I don't think there is any :(

But yeah - massive saving on St Ives <> Science Park.  Current journey 1hrXX mins with change needed, thanks to wonders of CGB that'll be cut to XXmins...
