Metroline route 310B
« on: October 28, 2009, 07:43:58 PM »
Ive only just found out that Metroline operated a commercial route 310B which operated between Harlow and Enfield Town until 2003. (more or less covered by Trustybus route C3 which operates from Harlow to Waltham Cross)

Heres a picture gallery of the route:

Most interesting find in the gallery I think was the Dennis Trident/ALX400 TA116 (V316GLB), a bus which is still operating on central London routes, a bit of a contrast from Harlow!

Does anyone have any more infomation about route 310B? such as frequencies etc, and also have Metroline operated any other commercial routes in the past ?

They did operate a another commercial route in Watford using Optare Solos on 05 registration plates. However, the route was withdrawn, but however, Mulleys coaches have replaced the route, using the same vehicles, just with Metroline vinals removed.

The 310B was an hourly service on Saturdays only, which ran from Enfield Town via the Southbury Road, Hertford Road, Waltham Cross, then the current 311 to Hundred Acre Estate, before continuing to Harlow. It was operated from Potters Bar garage, and on the occasion I sampled it (LUL/LTB staff passes were valid throughout) it was a Metrobus in both directions.

Previously, the 310/310A/310B/311 were jointly operated by London Northern/MTL London/Metroline London Northern/Metroline and County Bus/Arriva East Herts & Essex. The 310B was all Metroline, the rest shared. 310A ran the same way out of London as the 310B, whereas the 310 (and 311 was evening only at that point I think) went via Great Cambridge Road.

Other commercial routes ran from Potter Bar include the current 84 and 242.

It's been a long time, but I was thinking of this post/service the other day. Via London Bus Routes and the MJC Archive, I've been able to dig up a 1998 timetable for the 310B...

... and electronic copies of the Watford 318 and 346 routes too!

Wow, I can't even remember posting this thread back in 2009 lol  ;D

Thanks very much Suzy, very interesting. I do find London bus operators operating commercial services quite fascinating, so thanks.  :)

No problem! To be honest, I thought it was around six months ago - that does show just how fast I was going last year!!!

A few even older panels from the same source - these go pre-Metroline back to the days of MTL London, and even earlier, London Northern!!!

A handful more - going back to the very first panel to advertise the 310B in 1988, to the last known panel in 2001. These are either combined 310A/310B panels, or scans from Herts or Essex timetable books (not mine!)
