Two Volvo Citybuses seen on a short trip to Northampton this morning.

38098 was on the Wellingborough driver shuttle and 38122 in gainful employment at Greyfriars. Very clean it looked too.

Volvo B7L 66336 was noted back in service this morning on the 4. It has been out of use since August 2010 following an engine fire.

Can't understand why 38098 is still on the road as 38097/99 were withdrawn some time ago and now stand unwanted and certainly unloved in the yard at6 St. James garage.

Also 38098 is no advert for First (if they are bothered about their image) it is filthy and decrepit and a disgrace that local passengers are expected to ride on it.

I look forward to the day when First run their last service in this town.

Does anyone have an image of the offending Citybus. These 3 must be to the best of my knowledge the last in normal service (if you can call Northampton normal service) with First, the open-toppers in Cornwall notwithstanding.

From the forum last year:

http://angliaandthamesvalleybusforum.com/index.php?topic=3314.0

This shows the now-withdrawn 38099.  It will give you a pretty good idea of what 38098 looks like now, until anyone can post a pic. of the real thing.

You  are forgetting at least two others namely 38123/4, these were returned from,I believe, Wyvern painted in garish school bus colours, they were immediately put into service in Northampton in these colours, but were eventually repainted into corporate livery and I have to grudgingly admit did look almost decent.

However no soon were they repainted than they were spirited away again to who knows where?

O bviously too good for Northampton and we were left with the scruffy and decrepit 38097/8/9.
