SCC eXplore card axed
« on: February 18, 2011, 04:17:48 PM »
As part of Suffolk County Council's budget cuts which were approved at a meeting yesterday the Suffolk eXplore card which gives under 20's 50% off bus fares and off peak train fares will be axed. Holders of the cards will only be able to use their cards to get discounted travel until 31st March 2011. After this date cards will no longer be valid for discounted travel. Existing cardholders will still be able to use the card as proof of ID until its expiry date. These cuts will save the council around £1.7m per year.

That's a big shame, but I never really used mine so it doesn't affect me. Surely it would be better though to cut the waste that SCC spends upon itself like many other councils instead.

Such common sense in somebody so young  :D

Unfortunately, I doubt that many councils would reduce spending on themselves

It will be more than £1.10 I bet if First raise the fares (as would be expected around this time of year...)

£1.10 or £1.20, it is still just affordable for me, due to the fact that I stopped using my Explore card last year.
