Not exactly a stray but driving along the road (old B4525 now unclassified) from Banbury, I followed a 59 registered Optare Solo of Heyfordian which was showing route number RL1 on the rear blind.

I followed it as far as the A45 Daventry roundabout at Kislingbury where it turned towards Northampton.

What is this service, where does it originate from and when and how frequently does it operate?

RL1 operates in the South of the county, and I suspect that the bus you saw was incorrectly blinded and should have been showing RL3, which operates on certain days to Northampton, see timetable link below.

The Heyfordian Solo was definitely blinded RL1 correct or not, it was carrying passengers and definitely carried on to Northampton .

The timetable link does not show route RL3 does anyone else know anything about this service such as frequency and days of operation.

The timetable link does show RL3 - it is the second timetable on the second page. One journey each way between Banbury and Northampton on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.

Sorry I did not look far enough on the link to see service RL3 but there is still a mystery about the service I followed on Saturday.

According to the timetable the one service from Banbury to Northampton arrives in Northampton Bus Station at 12.00 but I was following the Solo at roughly between 14.00 and 14.30 so either it was running extremely late or there must have been an alteration to the timetable !!
