Route 310 to be converted to single-deck.
« on: July 13, 2011, 06:32:14 PM »
According to Buses magazine, Arriva's Ware garage is to receive new single-deck Volvo B7RLE / Wright Eclipse 2s, numbered 3875-3883. This will displace the Dennis Tridents, currently allocated to the 310 (Waltham Cross - Hertford) to Luton, where some of them started life.

Seems a shame to lose double-deck operation on this route, and it will mean the whole Arriva East Herts & Essex fleet will become single-deck operated (with the exception of those 2 Scania/East Lancs double decks currently at Harlow in all-white).

on lots website it says some of the 21 new B7RLEs 3875-3888, 3891-3897 have started to be delivered so not sure how much longer the tridents will last ? some of the tridents are going to luton and some to aylesbury to replace some of the olympians at this garages .

there is 22 B7RLE due, 21 new build and one ex-demonstrator 3898 (BG59 FWP) . 3898 is already at stevenage as seen it twice on the 300/301 in welwyn garden city and in full arriva livery .

3875-3883 for the 310 at ware .
3884-3888, 3898 for the 100/101/102 at stevenage .
3891-3897 for the 31 at luton .

Thanks for the extra info!

Wright's factory is currently closed for a few weeks for summer holidays, so I guess there is at least a month left for the Tridents at Ware.

At least one B7RLE has begun driver familiarisation on the 310, but none have been in service yet.

KX11PUK was spotted at Waltham Cross bus station today:

The B7RLEs have begun operating the 310/310A, alongside some remaining Tridents.

Possibly a silly question, but what's the reasoning for the conversion to single deckers?

The Tridents should be heading to Aylesbury and Luton to get rid of the last Olympians in the fleet, with the B7RLEs replacing the Tridents at Ware. Not sure why they are converting it to single-deck operation. I guess it is down to cost. Although could also be down to passenger numbers - the route never seems to be busy due to the competition from Centrebus.

These are the only double-decks operating in the Lea Valley area, so will be a shame to see them go. Double-decks do sometimes appear on Metroline's 242 though.
