From London to Stortford.
« on: July 23, 2011, 10:46:49 AM »
I need some help please.

I got to go to London for work on monday. I have to deliver a car to Hoe Street, Walthamstow. I then need to get back to work which is in Bishops Stortford. Ideally I would like to get buses back, but I dont know what ones. Help!
Thanks
Alex.

I think the quickest way by bus would be to get either route 97 or 212 from Walthamstow Central Bus Station to Chingford Station, then Arriva's 505 back to Harlow, then 510/511. Would be quicker to get the National Express East Anglia train from Walthamstow to Chingford though.

You can also get my favourite route, the 20, from Walthamstow (which also serves the southern section of Hoe Street), which takes a quick route out of Walthamstow (other routes take ages), then you can get off at Loughton, and either get the Central Line to Epping, or Arriva's 541 to Epping (the 541 takes about 50 minutes though, as it takes a long route). Then 19 to Harlow, then 510/511. There is also the 555, which would be an easier option.

Hoe Street is quite a long road, so whereabouts will you be going? Depending on where you will be going, you can avoid going to the Bus Station, and just find a stop along Hoe Street. As I say, the 20 stops along the southern end of Hoe Street, and the 97 stops along the northern end. 212 only serves small section of Hoe Street.

If I go to Loughton, I could get the 555?

Don't know why I forgot about the 555! Yes you can get that.

All the London Buses are £1.30 each on the Oyster card, or £2.20 cash. The 505 is £4.50 I think. The 555 is £4 I think, but it may £5 now, not sure.

So the idea is I get the 20, then the 555, then the 511. And all for around £10. Thanks for the info mate!

No problem!

20 is one of my favourite routes. Hope you enjoy your journey, and that it goes to plan.
