Parking tickets - BSE bus station
« on: September 25, 2011, 06:54:09 AM »
Not really Suffolk County Council but St Edmundsbury Council.

Two years ago I posted a message on the Forum (12 August 2009) that the council had displayed notices in the layover bays at Bury St Edmunds bus station giving notice of proposed revisions to the allowed waiting times for all vehicles.

Subsequently signs were displayed stating a maximum waiting time of 10 minutes was allowed on loading bays and a maximum of 45 minutes waiting in the layover bays. Exceeding these new times would incur the issue of a fixed penalty ticket with a fine of £100.

Nothing was done in respect of the issuing of parking tickets until a week or so ago when the parking attendants patrolling the adjacent car park were told that they had now to patrol the bus station.

Earlier this week a coach operated by Coach Services of Thetford, which usually stands in the layover bays for a few hours between school runs etc, received a fixed penalty notice.

A totally pathetic attitude of a money grabbing local authority .
They ( Councils ) have all lost their way in recent years , Councils are there to " serve " the people , not to line the pockets of it senior employees .
