Withdrawal of Imperial Buses routes.
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:20:19 PM »
According to LOTS and VOSA Bus Registration, Imperial Buses have surrendered most of their Essex CC contracted routes. These are Brentwood area routes 71/72, 261 and 268/269, which Regal Busways will take over from 28th November 2011.

Imperial are now left with 3 school routes in the Loughton area, and Thurrock Council contract route 11, as well as private hire.

I wonder how much longer Imperial will last!

Service 11 - is that one continuing as it currently is i.e. with Imperial?

I'll keep me eye's peeled as I do live more or less on line of route, though I can confirm Imperial were still running it just before Christmas after their other Thurrock routes (268/9) had passed on to Regal.

I can confirm Imperial are still running the 11 - MPD Dart Y251NLK was on it just now when I saw it in Ockendon.

Confusingly though, there was a 269 not far behind......a Marshall bodied Dart in Imperial livery!!! I think the reg was something like S250KPL, but I can't be sure as I almost missed it completely having done a double take.....

EDIT: Actually, it was more likely S520KFL.....http://www.flickr.com/photos/gbbuspics/5241410479/

Forgot to mention in my original post, one of Imperial's Loughton-area school routes goes down my road. I haven't looked out for it since the start of this school term, so I shall have a look out for it to see if it still runs, and if Imperial still operate it. Usually of their Dart SLF/Pointers operates it, although I have yet to identify any vehicles as they go past so fast!
