Similar failures the other weekend saw me take 3.5 hours from Peterborough to Kings Cross. While it is good Network Rail are undertaking single line working/ wrong road working to prevent bus replacement the fact that electric trains are coasting for a distance and obviously not without issue then another plan needs to be made.
I would have thought stopping the East Coast, Hull trains & Grand Centrals at Peterborough, Huntingdon & St Neots and then only allowing diesels run would provide more resilience. Then diesel haul the 365s in the late evening?
I drove yesterday was working 0700 - 1900. A neighbour finished work at 1400 and ended up driving home with me and we still beat the 1815 FCC back to Peterborough.
