NXEA Class 379 Namings.
« on: December 10, 2011, 01:05:55 AM »
For anyone that may be interested, two class 379 Electrostar units were named on Friday 9th December.

379011 is now named "Ely Cathedral" and sister unit 379012 is now named "The West Anglian".

This brings the total number of Class 379s that are named to 5.

Hi Andy

Thanks for reporting this.  I had been told that they were doing one naming yesterday, but didnt know about the second!

As an aside, the new National Rail timetable shows the restoration of "The Fenman" name to a morning and evening peak service, bestowed once again on the original route into Liverpool Street.

These journeys are:
0617 Kings Lynn (0650 Ely, 0717 Cambridge) to London Liverpool Street arr 0825
1707 London Liverpool street to (Cambridge 1815, Ely 1832) Kings Lynn arr 1908

There is no mention however in neither the operator (NXEA) or FCC's timetables, and in addition only the FCC guide mentions that the evening service divides at Cambridge, with only the front four coaches continuing to Kings Lynn.

A far cry from the late 1980s when we had a Class 47 (86 south of Cambridge from 1988) with nine Mk2s on board.
