Arriva Shires (inc. MK) Happenings 2012
« on: January 01, 2012, 12:22:55 PM »
This is a new format of note pages, for general day-to-day sightings, run-of-the-mill daily observations, and even the more unusual strays spotted in daily operation.

Open up a separate thread for service changes, and major announcements (i.e. PI callings, new ownership, cessation of operations, that kind of thing!)

This thread shall continue throughout 2012, but Admins reserve the right to cut one and start again if there are more than 250 postings in one particular thread, or if there is an argument or serious off-topic problems etc.

Enjoy!

Ex London DLA118 T318FGN was seen operating a Luton school route still in Arriva London Red with Cream Horn.
Looked to be in straight out of London condition
Is this a perminant transfer and are any more expected

Ware have been using the old-school Cadet's solidly on the 331 - the Versa's appeared to be working on the 395 (one) and 403 (two) last Monday. There have also been some drivers, with the older buses, reverting to the previous route via The Green as opposed to Tannery Drift (change made after the Versa's arrived, as they couldn't drive up onto the kerb to pass the delivery driver parking further down!). I checked this out on Friday with Arriva's registrations person, who advises there are no changes that he is aware of. Might have been a diversion - but cars (including ours!) could get through, Perhaps just someone who hasn't been up for 2 and a half years - but I find it useful knowing where to wait for the bus...  :( :D ;)

they will more then likely be the cadets that are normally on the 403 .

Luton Route 24 was being operated by single decks today I believe due to the Sundon Arch bridge being closed by road works and the nearby Leagrave station bridge being to low for double deckers
The buses I saw were Dart/East Lancs 3173 P673OPP and DAF/Prestige 3441 R201VPU

Luton based Dennis Tridents 5443 (W443XKX) and 5446 (W446XKX) have both received all over Vodafone FreeBee adverts
The front of both buses remains in Arriva Livery

Two short notice changes went through as accepted by VOSA this week... as you will note below we were lucky to have this in time for being squeezed into the new timetable books!

STOP PRESS

Updates to the Herts & Luton books 711, 712, 713, 714

Arriva Service 331 Hertford – Buntingford – Barley – Royston
(Volumes 713 & 714)
From a date to be confirmed (target date 1st October 2012) an extra bus will be added to this service, during Hertfordshire School Terms only. This journey duplicates the through bus to Royston at the same time (which will run School Days and School Holidays), and does not replace it.

Herts Schooldays Only                    331
Hertford, Bus Station                    1600
Ware, Herts Regional College, Stop D      1608
Ware, High Street, The Priory         1610
Ware, opp. Wodson Park Sports Centre      1613
Thundridge, Wadesmill Rd, Sow & Pigs PH   1614
Wadesmill, Ermine St, opp. The Feathers Inn   1616
High Cross, Ermine Street, opp. White Horse   1617
Colliers End, Ermine St, Lamb & Flag PH      1620

Arriva Services 500, 550 Aylesbury/Woodhall Farm – Hemel Hempstead –
Kings Langley – Watford
(Volume 711)
From a date to be confirmed (target date 1st October 2012) the times of the two morning schoolday services from Woodhall Farm to Watford will operate earlier than before, because of substantially increased traffic congestion since the start of the new term.

Herts Schooldays Only                    500      550
Woodhall Farm, Cuffley Court         0708      0738
Astley Cooper School                     0713      0743
Ayclife Drive, Post Offfice            0716      0746
Highfield, Bellgate Centre            0719      0749
Adeyfield, High Street, Green         0723      0753
Adeyfield Road, opp. Great Road         0726      0756
Hemel Hempstead Bus Station         0731-0735   0801
Hemel Hempstead, Marlowes, Stop 13      0737      0803
Hemel Hempstead, Riverside, Stop 23      0740      0806
Two Waters Way                       0744      ------
Apsley, Sainsbury’s, London Road         0750      ------
Kings Langley, High Street            0758      ------

V – Operates direct via Hempstead Road.

One set of registrations going through today is for another change to discs. The MK Metro Ltd and Arriva EH&E services are being transferred to Arriva The Shires, from 1st January 2013. This has came about for further simplification, but the latter (East Herts & Essex) to The Shires had been tried before, but was reverted on a technicality meaning if no services ran on these licences, there wouldn't be any money in the pension funds. This has presumably now been resolved.

It has been reported that all operations in the 'SHIRES' group are going to operate on the 'shires' O license with the other 2 operating licences being surrendered. Can any one confirm this?

At Loughton Station today, I spotted 3504 LF52UOP on the 250, which is ex-Arriva London PDL79. I was pleased to see this as this vehicle has been on Arriva London's 397, which passes through Loughton.

It is certainly getting about on all the current Ware routes - the bus was on the Service 331 one week ago today i.e. Monday 19th November - at least as far as Buntingford on the 14.40.
