Actually, yes a duplication of information has occured - but the latter was via the useful website www.realtimetrains.co.uk for those who want to know.

This is excellent to see, well done to all those who put their heads together to arrange it.

Studying the pages in Open Train Times bring up some interesting data, whereby the train turns into an HST every time is leaves Peterborough.  One must assume these are errors, but given the source of the data this is slightly worrying:

5Z01 1044 Norwich C.Pt. T.&R.S.M.D to Norwich
• Timed for 95mph
• Diesel locomotive, trailing load 420 tonnes

1Z01 1120 Norwich to Peterborough
• Timed for 95mph
• Diesel locomotive, trailing load 420 tonnes
• First & Standard Class

5G01 1332 Peterborough to Ely Recp
• Timed for 110mph
• High Speed Train (HST125)

5G02 1717 Ely Recp. to Peterborough
• Timed for 60mph
• Diesel locomotive

1Z02 1810 Peterborough to Norwich
• Timed for 110mph
• High Speed Train (HST125)

• First & Standard Class

5Z02 2006 Norwich to Norwich C.Pt. T.&R.S.M.D
• Timed for 95mph
• Diesel locomotive, trailing load 420 tonnes

Interesting that there is First and Standard class accomodation.  I am surprised to see that the outward trip does not run via the Ely West Curve- that would have saved fifteen minutes and avoided the run round in Ely station (unless of course it carries a DVT or is indeed a hired in HST).

Can't believe there are still people who will waste time and money to go out to see a poxy 47 come past.

In my opinion they were the worst thing that happened to BR, the engine in DP2 was the prototype for the class 50's and BR should have bought 500 plus 50's instead of 47's.

When I think back to some of the more glamorous diesels BR had (Westerns, Warships and of course the immortal Deltics) I cannot believe they have long gone out of service and yet some of these dreadful 47's are still clinging to life.

I was responsible for starting the Deltic Preservation Society back in 1976 (my letter getting the original committee together appeared in Railway Magazine in September 1976) and I never imagined that we would now have three of these wonderful machines in our care with at present one of them (D9009) certified for main line use.

Anyone who wants to see a real diesel at work should go out when No.9 is operating.

Not wanting to start an argument on here Dennis but everyone is entitled to the opinion on what particular trains they like to watch, you like 50's i personally like 47's and others like 66's i think its not very good to say why people are going to look at these 'poxy things' as as ive said its each to there own.

Well, yes: each to their own.

I always had a bit of a soft spot for the class 03 shunter. I think it was the way that the exhaust 'funnel' made it seem to have pretensions to being a 'proper' chuff-chuff.

When, about a decade-and-a-half ago, my (then) teenage daughter said, "This is a brilliant film; you should watch it," and slotted in a video-tape of Danny Boyle's Trainspotting (1996), I had to agree on the brilliance of the film. But I did quibble over the lack of motive power to tick off in my notebook.

Mind you, I shouldn't complain; Renton and Begbie didn't have much luck trainspotting in Leith Central Station, in Irvine Welsh's book, on which the film was based – as the station had been closed for years. That chapter didn't make it into the film as scene: I think the station had been demolished before filming started.

I assume this relates to what the crew do while the ECS stock is left at Ely, and then a fresh crew come up for the return working.
That is really laughable, with the taxi running at the same time as a parralel train journey:

ECS arrives Ely 1410
Train leaves for Ipswich at 1431, arriving 1528

Then:
Train leaves Ipswich 1558, arriving Ely 1658
ECS leaves Ely 1717

A twenty minute connection each time, and there would be no additional cost.  It takes the same time as well!
