Newly acquired ex- Stagecoach Newcastle ALX300 bodied Volvo B10BLE R236KRG was working Freedom's half of the 114 service today, still in Stagecoach livery with the red bits painted blue and the fleetnames peeled off....not confusing at all in a city where just about every other service is operated by Stagecoach.  ::)

Afternoon all !

Another recent acquisition I think, is of Alexander PS bodied Volvo B10M R221CRW, formerly 20221 with Stagecoach Midlands.  It was noted on Freedom's journey's on the 114 this morning in full Stagecoach livery.

Seen on the 114 this afternoon was Freedom Travel's  Optare Solo R621NFX. I've an idea they may have only recently acquired this, but even so, it was in Freedom's livery.   I've not seen the 07 plate Solo or the W reg Dart they used to use on this service for a while now.

The R reg Solo was recently acquired from Ensignbus. Can't say I've seen the other Solo or Dart for ages!

Afternoon all,

A unexpected vehicle from Freedom Travel on the 114 today was of yellow liveried Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian R389LGH.

I assume they don't use deckers on anything, including the stuff around Newmarket that follows a different timetable every day of the week? Can find no shots of their P271VPN with them on flickr!

'Deckers do appear, but mostly as cover for when the Dart or Solos are off the road. Seems quite usual for one to work 114's on the Sunday.

Northern Counties Olympian R389LGH has just passed me at Abington displaying 110 (Histon-Ely) on a bit of paper in the windscreen.

After a tip-off from a friend earlier this morning about a ex-Metroline President parked in Freedom's depot at Cardinals Green, I went over and had a look only to find (ex?) Deckerbus T98KLD there which has been in use on Linton schools!

Freedom appear to have an office on site, with the sign over the doorway proclaiming their registered address to be Cardinals Green rather than Ely - does anyone know if they have moved down here from the Fens?

I thought another company had been set up, with a base at Horseheath, Freedom Coaches being the name of it.  With Freedom Travel still being based at Ely.

Horseheath is just across the A1307 from Cardinals Green so that would make sense. Thanks Chris :)

R389LGH appeared to be running on the 114 yesterday, I say appeared as there wasn't even the standard Freedom Travel "destination display" of a bit of paper in the windscreen! Do CCC even bother monitoring their services?  :(

Evening all,

Has anybody a current fleetlist for Freedom Travel at all please ?  Including the vehicles at Horseheath as well, if possible.  Reason I'm asking is that I just wondered if they still have Leyland Olympians G704 & 710TCD, and F605MSL.

Cheers,

ChrisB

Evening all,

Freedom's share of the 114 today was operated by Plaxton bodied Dennis Trident T 98KLD, still in London red, with Ensignbus fleetnames !  Although I think it was with another firm before Freedom Travel.

Correct Chris, it was previously with Decker Bus.

That's the one Adam !   Until now, I'd not seen it on the 114 before, usually when I've seen a decker on it, it has usually been R389LGH.

Freedom Travel surrendered their contracts in the Newmarket area, requiring the County Council to re-tender them.  All contracts, except 203, has been awarded to Freedom Travel.  203 has been awarded to Ely Soham Dial a Ride.  All Freedom Travel contracts will operate to the same timetable.  203 has been amended slightly to accommodate a 16 seat vehicle.  These changes are effective from 2 January 2014.

Noted from a distance this morning a dark blue Alexander PS in Saffron Walden.
