MCW Metropolitan
« on: June 02, 2013, 09:04:09 PM »
Not a Whippet happening, but I thought for a moment it was! Metropolitan OUC98R, one which never ended up at Fenstanton, was on tow northwards on the A14 last weekend, pulled over just short of Spittals and listing rather heavily to starboard... looked like it was on a one-way trip to Barnsley. I'd assumed long ago that I'd never see a Metropolitan again...

It was apparently a bit of a TV/movie star about 20 years ago...

Think it was OUC99R (MD99) going by this video I saw posted on a MCW Metropolitian facebook group, assuming the video is recent of course!

Steve,

I gather that the restoration of MD60 is progressing steadily too - it will be great to see these wonderful buses back on the road again.

My bad... if I'd been on my own I'd have doubled back at Godmanchester for a better look :)

On the Subject of Metropolitan's, is there any news on Whippet's 426? as i haven't heard anything for a while,
As the owner of MD60, (Which if all goes well, i believe could be making her debut, soon, possibly for Showbus),  has sister 411, however, that one is rotten to the core, and whilst being moved under tow, two weeks ago, litterally broke her back :(  there never was a chance in hell that she'd be restored but now its an impossibility.
Anyway, the top of 411 is still intact, and her owner was wondering if the lads with 426 would like to have 411's roof to go onto her.
If this would be the case, and they do not know him, then by all means contact myself and i will put you in contact with him.
