Kettering appear to have stopped using their Olympians on the 38/39 services - I haven't seen one in over a week now.

........then only a couple of hours after I posted this, 16755 turns up on the 39, covering for a Trident that was running late on it's previous run.

Think that's the only run from Kettering depot, which uses Olympians....

According to the latest fleetcard they are both destined for Kettering. 17037 has now emerged from the paintshop, looking immaculate, for the moment at least, and has been working from Kettering on the 39 for the last 3 days. Not sure what they are replacing, but 16683 (L-reg Olympian) is still in service (was on 39 today). A couple of Kettering's other Olympians have gone to reserve recently (16167 & 16695), so maybe it is to replace them.

Some of Northampton's Scania E300 saloons have received branding for service 2.

3 out of the 4 remaining Northampton Olympians were in service today - 16694/6 & 8. I travelled on '98 & '96 to town & back on the 38. 16696 seems to be the best one of these and still rides well. Haven't seen much of 16699 lately, am I right in thinking it's not a very reliable machine these days ?

On which basis/facts are you basing that 16696 is the best Olympian of the fleet and 16699 is not very reliable, both are alive and very much kicking at the present time.

Volvo Olympian 16174 was working the 39 to Northampton today

On the basis that I travel on quite a few buses locally, and that includes the remaining Olympians. You get a feel for what buses ride smoothly, transmission and suspension-wise, and which are a bit rough. I also see what buses are being used on my local routes on a daily basis, and also in Northampton, and whilst I agree that both 16696 and 16699 are around at the moment, a  few weeks ago 16699 was hardly seen at all, and when it did appear, it sometimes failed to complete it's duty after presumably breaking down. Maybe I am being unfair to continue branding it as unreliable !

I know how a bus feels I am a driver!! Just wondered if you were basing your theory from a driver's point of view that's all or if you worked for Stagecoach and knew any reliability figures or just from a passenger point of view, I would agree to say those vehicles were unreliable. But I do value your opinion!!

No, there's no scientific approach, no insider info, just good old-fashioned "gut feel" acquired from travelling on buses, particularly those of Stagecoach (& United Counties before that) over many years.

P.S. had a ride on 16699 this morning, and it sounded a lot more healthy than the last time I was on it !

Olympian 16698 and a Solo from the 4703x batch (can't remember which one) were providing a little light relief from the usual branded MAN E200s on the 9/9A today.

Service 10-branded E200 37043 and Service 8-branded E200 37052 both on the X46/47 this afternoon.

Anything to do with Silverstone?

Tony  -  yes, entirely to do with Silverstone. All nine Gold Scanias are due to be used for Grand Prix work on Sunday, so various swapping around was taking place this afternoon to allow time for them to be prepared.

Upon browsing flickr noticed that 18105 18403-5 , 18407-8 have been debranded from 16/17 do any one know where these all going are they staying ? Or will some join Rugby with other ex tridents. Would have thought Northampton would need these with the olympians going in the future & surely they need more double deckers for other routes such as the 1 & 7?

They are staying in Northampton for the foreseeable future, they just needed a repaint as the paintwork was looking 'tired'

The green Scania 15453 is indeed a rare sight on the X46/47

I live on the routes and would be surprised if one needed two hands to count the number of times that it has appeared since the Golds were introduced over eight months ago

Some sightings from Corby

Scania 15455 MX08 GJG was on the X4 to Northampton spotted several times today going to Northampton and Priors Hall throughout the day, deputising for the unavailable Scania Gold vehicle.

Dennis Dart KX56 JZH 35226 made its debut passenger work in Corby since transferring to Corby from Northampton, having been off the road for 6 months February 2014.

Volvo Olympian 16495 was operating the 3, due to the unavailable Scania N94UB, as was Dennis Trident 17695 X705 JVV again due to an unavailable Scania

Northampton's MAN 18.240/ADL Enviro 300 22833 (KX09 BGV) has re-entered service newly fitted with a Cummins six-cylinder B-series engine to replace its damaged MAN unit. This is the second of the batch to be done, the other being 22835. Also, in reply to someone's query, MAN 39699 does still have its MAN engine, as do all nine 39-series Enviro 200s at Northampton.

Seen working in that well-known Corby suburb of Peterborough (!) yesterday was KX04RDV (15405) working to Oundle on a 24. Someone on the trip yesterday said that a pair of these have been out all week?

15402 was also operating on Saturday on the 23/24 services.

15607 branded for service 50 was operating on the X4.

At the particular time I saw them, 15402/15405 and 15607 were all in Peterborough at the same time

According to the latest fleetcard, 34495 & 34588 are shown as reserve at Corby & Kettering respectively. Maybe they have moved on since the fleetcard was issued ?

I believe the two Darts may be headed for Stagecoach West, rather than South West in exchange for two Tridents which are likely to be allocated to Kettering.

The two Darts have arrived with Stagecoach West and are likely to be allocated to Swindon
