17212 was on the 19:40 & 21:10 9B from Town Centre to Duston tonight , thought this went to Rugby. Surprised it didn't replace 18105 at Kettering

Scania/E400 15449 has returned to serviced following accident damaged received in a collision with Uno 276 in December 2014. I noted it operating on service 16 today, working the 0939 Sunnyside-Ecton Brook.

Corby-allocated Trident/Plaxton 17697 has been a visitor to Northampton over the last 2 days - yesterday on the X43 and today on the 39.

On Trident-related matters, has anyone seen ALX400-bodied 17037 recently. I haven't seen it for several weeks now & wonder if it is VOR.

17037 was VOR about a month ago following an RTA which required attention to the panelling. It was for this reason that Kettering first borrowed 17697 from Corby to cover.

I too saw 17697 again today on the 39  and was surprised that 17037 isn't back in service yet.

Thanks for that Tony. Maybe they can get an electrician to sort out the malfunctioning "BUS STOPPING" display on the lower deck while it's in dock - it has been permanently illuminated every time I've had a ride on it recently.

bmnpton  -  you do love those duston 39s don't you? Actually, apart from the appalling rattle coming from the orange drop-down arm in the wheelchair bay (which I am always trying to find a way of curing permanently rather than temporarily), the cab being not easy to get into, the cab security screen being fixed (apart from 39692/3) and the Voith retarder being unpredictable, they are not bad buses to drive, although a bit quirky. They are very reliable and lively and in my opinion do a good job. 95% of the rattles you occasionally refer to are from that arm, which  obviously is in the up position nearly all the time, only being down to protect a wheelchair form falling over. When in the up position however every part of the thing seems to rattle independently, and I can never understand why it is there at all, when all the other Enviros we have at Northampton have a simple floor-to-roof bar which seems to work just as well.                                                                                                 If I hear about a fleet of Gold Scania deckers being ordered for the 9/9As I promise you will be the first to know!

There was a non-Gold E400 on the 12:10 X4 from Peterborough today. Didn't see which one though as I was half-asleep on an X4 heading the other way!

LeylandL60 He doesn't dislike the Duston 39's any more than I do, they have earned the nickname "rattletraps" almost since day one.

Some four years ago I had correspondence with Keith Dyball who was Engineering Director at the time and he eventually agreed to introduce a road test at each vehicle's periodic inspection to identify any rattles, for a time things seemed to improve but they are back to normal again and a recent ride on 39700 confirms that this one is by far the worst at present.

It is a far cry from the days when United Counties were buying buses with ECW bodies, the K types and L types were solidly built and my fading memory of them cannot recall any body rattles even after many years of service.

Why these E200's are so poorly built is beyond me and I have to say that the new batch of 37XXX are beginning to follow in the footsteps of their older sisters now they have been in service for some time.

Are we sure that 15455 was on the 12.10 X4 departure?

I ask because the photo posted by AE51 VFX shows the bus blinded for Northampton whereas the 12.10 should have been blinded for Milton Keynes. The first service to run only as far as Northampton is the 16.10 departure.

Plaxton Pointer-bodied Dart 34494 has been active in Northampton for the last couple of weeks - I've seen it on services 2,16 & 17. Does anyone know if this is a permanent transfer, & also where it has come from ?

34494 is allocated to Nuneaton according to the 2015 Stagecoach handbook.

Regret I cannot say whether it is a permanent transfer (I haven't seen it on service myself!)

Nuneaton's Dart 34494 is on loan to Northampton at the moment, Northampton's Trident 17212 is on loan to Rugby and the last of the three ex-East Scotland MAN 18.220/Alexander ALX300s, 22374 (SP55 EGK), has at last entered service at Northampton, joining its sisters 22375/6 (SP55 EGU/V). All three were hard at work on cross-town services today. Best wishes to all Forum members in this beautiful Spring weather!

Kettering's Solo 47069 is in Peterborough today working the Oundle diagram, which is booked for an Olympian. Am assuming given the schools work on that diagram aren't needed this week a Solo is sufficient for the rest of the diagram.

Latest N & P shows numerous changes to Corby and Northampton town services. Does anybody know what they are? Is it to much to hope for increased evening and Sunday services?

It is very rare these days to see an single decker working on the X46/X47 but 37042 was performing such duties today. A welcome from the usual Gold double deckers although the latter are a credit to the route.
