Four one-year-old Stagecoach standard ADL Enviro 200s arrived at Stagecoach's Northampton depot on Wednesday evening from Carlisle. They are 37109-112 (YY14 WEX/WFA/WFB/WFC). They are to replace four Solos, as yet unknown which ones.

Why did the E200s need replacing with smaller buses in Carlise?

Are the four Solos being swapped for the four Carlisle 200's, if not what is going to happen to the Solos?

There's very little difference in seating think it's 5 or so. Plus the solos are spot on the right size.

Single decker again on X46/X47 service this morning. Too far away to record registration but it is the second time that one had appeared on the 1108 service from Raunds.

The Gold Enviro on the 8 is a regular working, usually done by the non-route-branded 15196.

I understand that this is because a 'decker is needed on the morning run to Silverstone College. It was felt that a WiFi-enabled vehicle might mean that the students would be distracted from anti-social behaviour if they were playing on their various gadgets, and the only Northampton 'deckers which are WiFi-enabled are the Golds.

E200 39694 broke down in Duston this morning, I suggested to the fitter trying to rescusitate it that he should contact Perret's scrap merchant to come and take it away and he was in full agreement with me !!!

When I returned home it had gone so perhaps he did just that  !!!

Do we yet know which Solos these four (37109-37112) have replaced and what has happened to the Solos involved?

Ex-Carlisle ADL E200s 37109-12 entered service at Northampton on Monday 6th July and are similar to the other 37-series E200s working here, but they have four-speed Voith gearboxes as opposed to the three-speed used hitherto. This makes for a better performance when pulling away from rest, but I don't know yet whether it gives a higher top speed as well. The ADL E200 with three gears has a top speed of 51 mph with the engine running at 2550 rpm. On runs such as service 8 from Northampton to Bicester, with its several lengthy top-speed stretches on the A43, I wouldn't have thought the fuel consumption would be all that good (as a comparison, the Scania E300s as used on the X7 between Milton Keynes and Leicester have a top speed of 56mph yet at that speed the engine, driving through its six-speed ZF box, runs at 1400 rpm). Out of interest, does anyone know exactly where the change from three- to four-speed gearboxes occurred? It has to be somewhere between 37074 (the last of Northampton's large batch of 37s) and 37109. Best wishes to all.

Dennis  -  as far as I know the ex-Carlisle E200s are replacing 47034-7, 9.2m 03-plate Solos, although I don't know their next home and 47037 was still in service at Northampton last week.

Stagecoach United Counties Green 15453 MX08 GJE was on the last X4 from Peterborough at 20.10pm.

The odded thing about is that it was displaying N1 Northampton.

Photo will follow when uploaded on my flickr.

Jonny, 15453 passed my X4 (18.30 off Peterborough) at Corby Station last evening. It showed "Stagecoach Midlands" on the destys.

Jonny,

Route N1 will be used at Northampton for the Moto GP 2015 at Silverstone fom 28 August 2015 until 30 August 2015

Stagecoach N1 : Northampton North Gate Bus Station - Northampton Rail Station - Silverstone Circuit

Presumably the driver couldn't find X1 and found N1 instead

From 30 August 2015

Stagecoach 3   New Duston - Rye Hill - Northampton Town Centre
(Monday to Saturday)
Route and timetable revised

no longer serves Riverside
route extended from Rye Hill to New Duston

Found this interesting wonder if it will bring link back to Limehurst square as first use to have it many years back ?

Don't get too excited, it is only being extended along Harlestone Road, as far as the entrance to Lodge Farm Industrial Estate, almost opposite The Hart of Duston. Buses will turn around using the entrance to the Indutrial Estate to go back along Harlestone Road. As this will involve quite a tight turning I suspect Optare Solos will be used. However, I suspect that this is just a pre-cursor to the 3 being extended to the new housing development being built at Harlestone Heath, which will ptobably warrant an all day half hourly service within twelve months.

I noticed today that Stagecoach have placed a notice on our local bus stop saying that due to poor usage the X4 will no longer stop in the village of Grafton Regis (The X7 will continue to do so).... People do use the X4 . I could understand this if the bus had to divert to serve the village..but from the 30th September it will just drive past the stop...Can any one enlighten me on the sense in this

On 30 September there are route changes for the X4 through Earls Barton, which will involve some slight increase in running time. The X46 is also affected by a route change on the same date.

I like how these are marketed as 'x' as there is nothing express about either services.

Haven't seen any sign of service 3 passing my house on it's extension to Hart of Duston pub.

Has it started yet?
