Seems to be a shortage of "Gold" buses on the X46/X47 today.  16698 was on the 07:47 X47 from Northampton and was clearly in trouble as it arrived in Stanwick about 35 minutes late. On arrival at Raunds it was taken out of service and the 09:38 ex Raunds. appeared to have been cancelled. 16698 seemed be travelling very slowly. The following 10:08 service therefore had a double load of passengers  The 11:08 ex Raunds had 15454 in service and was running to time.

First time that I have seen a cancellation on these routes.

Chris, I didn't really notice as was going the other way.

Anyway 16698 has responded to treatment and is at work in Northampton today.

Reserve fleet Dart/Plaxton 34494 has been working out of Kettering on X43s to Northampton & Market Harborough today. I think that Kettering Dart 35219 may have failed in service on X43 last night, & 34494 was substituted at some point.

Can anyone tell me why the Stanwick stop on the X46/X47 timetable is shown as the Church Hall?  The old church hall was demolished and a new village hall built about 3 years ago. The currant hall is run bt a trust and has, to my knowledge, nothing to do with the church.

Probably because no one has changed it since it was the Church Hall, bus operators don't sit and monitor every change of ownership or development on the network just in case it may affect the name of their timing points - there are probably many instances across the area of timing points named after demolished buildings or closed pubs.  If it is raised by customers or councils it may well get changed eventually as long as something better can be identified but, particularly in smaller intermediate settlements, these things are often not spotted - it is certainly possible that they don't know that the ownership changed when the new hall was built.

After reading various sites this morning it appears there was a fire at Kettering depot which would be the reason behind the interesting workings.

Steven knights site reported that is was Scania Enviro 400 15749 (KX61DLV) on fire.
Info from other sites including pics of the Corby Scania on flickr report 6 vehicles damaged

15749 was the only bus danaged, this will now be off the road for around 6 months (according to enginering) whilst repairs are undertaken, very lucky the quick response from the fire brigade prevented further damage.

Visited Northampton Thursday 26 November. 15449 was having some battery trouble in Drapery and the engineer was in attendance.

Corbystar-liveried Scania 15402 was an unusual bus on the 39 today. It was my first ride on one of these vehicles, and thought that it was quite a decent bus, apart from the unusual seating configuration at the rear of the lower saloon. That bench seat behind the facing seats above the wheel arch looked mighty uncomfortable!

A very unusual working this afternoon/evening has been the appearance of Olympian 16699 on the 7A Sunday service from Grange Park to Moulton via Northgate Bus Station.)  It was deputising for a Trident, which had been on the route earlier in the day, quite unusual in itself. Can anyone please confirm if Northampton Olympians are routinely used on Sundays (maybe on the 50 to Pineham.)
