Today was fun, with a small tarmac resurfacing job, involving temporary traffic lights, in the short stretch of Coldhams Lane , between the Beehive Roundabout & Newmarket Rd, causing untold traffic chaos on Coldham's Lane (to Sainsbury's) & also Newmarket Rd both ways. At one point it was tailbacked half way down East Rd & also down to Midsummer Common !!

Anyway, a couple of odd sightings produced :-

An MAN was on the 1s just after lunchtime, heading to Arbury.

Also, this afternoon's 1605(?) 7 to Saffron Walden produced Enviro 300 27850 AE13DZW.

Former Fife and Manchester Enviro400s MX56FRP 19047 and 19017 have arrived in Cowley Rd - is this to complement the other ex-Manchester Enviro400 already in service at Cambridge or are more on the way?

Apparently, 19004 should have come, but has been replaced by 19068.

Not sure, why this has happened, as I was told it was for Cambridge, although I did originally have it down as being eventually cascaded to Kent ! No doubt, "it will all come out in the wash !", as the old saying goes !!

Three ADL Trident/ADL Enviro 400s have arrived with Stagecoach East at Cambridge from Stagecoach Manchester. Buses 19017/47/68 were previously operating from Manchester’s Hyde Road depot. We are seeking information on which depot(s) they will be allocated to with Stagecoach East. This corrects our original post. 19004 was due to be collected from Manchester by the Cambridge drivers last Sunday but was substituted and 19068 transferred instead.

Hello Chaps,

I don't suppose any of you know the ID of this Dart which was being towed west along the A14 by Hardwicks of Carlton earlier?

Hi Bob, I tried enhancing your photo, but no good ! They're pulling them out of East Kent, at the moment, as most of them are Non-DDA compliant. On the latest East Kent fleetlist (received today) there are SIX possibilities. Only last week, I saw two Hardwicks wreckers running together, north on M11, towing the same. Passed me so fast, I couldn't positively ID them !! - Those wrecker boys don't hang around !!

Hello Nigel,

Apparently, not far behind, was an Enviro 200, and a Citaro artic (sans several windows) going the same way on tow...

Possibly the same one which I saw along Mill Road on citi 2 yesterday?

By the time I'd got home, my thoughts were all on the delicious lunch I'd just bought, and I forgot all about the bus!

Edit: correct typo.

Cyclist injured in crash involving bus in Cambridge

Quote from: Cambridge News  |  Posted: March 17, 2015
A cyclist was hit by a bus on Hills Road, Cambridge

Police were called by paramedics after a crash in which a cyclist was injured following a collision with a bus in Cambridge.

Officers were called to the crash last night in Hills Road.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: "We were called by the ambulance service at 7.28pm to a collision involving a cyclist and a bus near City House in Hills Road. The cyclist, a man in his 20s, was not seriously hurt."

Police are investigating.

No speculation about fault please.

I would just like to use this occasion to say a multi-part thank-you to those members of this forum (and their colleagues) who drive buses around Cambridge:
  • When cycling around the city, I have never felt under threat by any bus.
  • When travelling by bus I have often seen bus drivers safely avoid errant cyclists without endangering either the cyclist or the bus passenger.
  • I have frequently observed bus drivers obey rule 163 and rule 212 of the Highway Code in giving cyclist appropriate road space.

Didn't see which one, but a MAN was out on the 7 this evening at Pampisford waiting to work back into Cambridge. Seems fairly normal of late to see a Trident on this turn.
