No sign of BU52ELY for weeks - only the E200 above. Has it gone or is it still around for schools and the bike bus?

I didn't notice a tow hook on the back of the E200.

Just read of a fatal accident involving the E200 this morning, happened between Haddenham and Wilburton on the 1030 service.
Can not tell the extent of the damage but I am sure this will come out in due course.

It appears from the photo on the Ely Standard page that BU52ELY was summoned to rescue the driver and passengers, so by fate this incident confirms the previous discussion over it's retention at Somersham.

Condolences go out to the fail of the lady who died, and our thoughts should be with all of those involved.

Dews have a "new" E200 on the Ely Zipper today. It does not have fleetnames and is YW14FHU

Apologies. I have just found out that this vehicle has been with Dews for at least a couple of months.

This was first registered to Alexander Dennis in August 2014. Is it possible it could be a temporary replacement for YY15NJN?

Dews are now operating at least one of the CRC services from St Neots. This involves one of LW51ZLZ (former Dublin AV189), V85MOA or V48MOA (ex West Midlands). The first two are in very smart Dew livery, 48 is still in WM livery with route branding and rarely comes out...

Popped into St Ives the other day, and it seemed quite strange compared to when I was there earlier
in the year. The only Whippet service bus I saw was a busway vehicle, but several Dew's vehicles were
in service including:

BU52ELY service 22
YW14FHT service 1A
V54MOA service 45A
V48MOA service 1A

The last two are still in West Midlands livery

I hadn't appreciated until reading this there are now service 22s in St. Ives. The Dews one to Warboys on which presumably BU52ELY was operating and the Stagecoach town service replacement of Whippet's 12. The latter seems to be the preserve of Busway double deckers.

This vehicle was new to me in Ely. It had no fleet names and the legal information was a vinyl sticker in the front nearside window. Apparently, it has been around a bit. It is listed as a VDL SB180 which operated fairly recently for Richmonds.

Not previously reported is YJ62JWL a VDL/MCV Evolution. It is in all white livery so could
be a loan from the Arriva hire fleet. It was on service 22.

YW14FHT was on service 1A still all white as it was last year when I photographed it,
and V48MOA is still in West Midlands livery.

Perhaps Admin could rename the thread as "Dews Happenings" and delete the years?

I have noted that there is a Dews Van Hool Alizee and a Richmond's Van Hool T9 parked in a farmyard on A47 just before you reach Thorney from Peterborough direction. There are also about three trucks parked there and all display 'L' plates, so I presume its a Driving School. Does anyone know who owns them now please?

When https://www.apextrainingcentres.co.uk/ train drivers for Richmond they do it on a Richmonds vehicle. not an Apex trainer. It my be that Richmonds, and others are stabling their training vehicles nearby when they are use?

Not according to Cambs County Council bus timetables. https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/travel-roads-and-parking/buses/bus-timetables/ all services previously operated by Hunts Association for Community Transport.
Presumably these are CCC contracted services that have recently been re tendered

Why not give Dew's a call, I am sure they will be only too please to tell you what vehicles the are going to use.

In addition Dew's have also taken over service 415, running from Upwood to Peterborough, this one however only operates on Wednesdays. It too is formerly a HACT contract.

I emailed the County Council yesterday (Saturday) to try to find out. To date, there's been no application for a new licence for this service, although that doesn't rule out a "short notice". I suppose it might be changed to a Demand Responsive service. Right now, there's no information about its future in the public domain (that I've been able to discover). Once there's definite news I'll make sure it gets added to the Cambridge Area Bus Users "Bus service changes and updates" page.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the 28 (both the weekday morning/evening commuter/school runs and the St Neots market day service) is CANCELLED from the end of this week. According to information provided by the County Council, there were no bidders when they tendered the contract. (Technically, of course, this information doesn't therefore belong in a "Dews" thread, but I'll post something to the Cambridge Area Bus Users website later today.)

Taking the three strands, I wonder if the tender was split.
The weekday morning/evening commuter/ I should be amazed if there have been any passengers on the evening part, as the theoretical connection with the 18 did not occur at least 20% of the time from the start of the service(late running og the 18 service). The connection was removed on the first revision of the 18 timetable. The service was supposed to be reviewed after 1 year but nothing happened due to lack of funds.
Subsequently Stagecoach changed the 18 service so one journey served the Gransdens in the evening.
School runs. There have been large changes since the 6th form at Comberton VC opened and Cambourne pupils went to their new VC. Comberton VC l now operates its own bus service which serves the 28 route.
Also the catchment area has been changed and enlarged to cover the area towards the Gransdens though free transport to Comberton VC is not provided as a generality.
St Neots market day service. This service was well patronized in the past but I am not aware of any current loading.

I have heard on good authority that Dews will be using 2 Transits (57 & 66 plate) ex FACT they will be driven by ex FACT drivers. I do not know the full reg numbers.

This morning I did note a factory spec transit on the 150, still using the high-tech paper destination blind this route got used to during it's time with hact (and sometimes even there was no indication that it was working a public route).
I wonder if they are using ticket machines on these routes, as some how hact went without any apparent ticketing system.

Spotted today a Paxton president decker running the 65, presumably because its market day?
As I thought this route would have been served by a minibus like with the 150, I'll have to keep an eye on this route to see what pops up on it.
