As far as I know, you are correct on that, Julia.

Andy Campbell words on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire this morning talking about his bus fleet and whether electric vehicles  would be helpful  in combating levels of pollution.

Were are they actually hybrids, I do not doubt that he wouldn't have missed the opportunity of bragging about it. What he did say was  that the company has discussed the possibility of introducing electric vehicles on the park-and-ride routes with charging taking place at the park-and-ride sites.  This was not possible, owing to the lack of the appropriate electrical infrastructure.

He did, however, say that the new vehicles have stop-start technology, so that in stationary traffic the engine will cut out and then restart automatically when it's time to move on.
Also, when handbrake is applied & the doors open !

I'm sure a trick is being missed with the technology :-(  We really need buses with removable batteries that could be swapped over for charging during the course if the day?

P&R would be ideal for this as there already staffed sites relatively short distances apart (and if the routes crossed the city again only half of them would need charging facilities).

The only drawback I can think of for this, is the weight factor & a fleet of forktrucks, so in theory may not be really practical ?? Another thing is that some days the sites are NOT staffed, as they don't have enough staff to go round...........ask passengers when they can't get in the buildings to use the loos !!

Another 3 buses have arrived from Merseyside this afternoon, after their Loan.  Delivered were Greens (Babraham) 10796/800  SN66VZU/Y & Grey (Generic) 10802 SN66WAA.

This just leaves ONE to come, Green 10798 SN66VZW.

Noted 10802 in service this morning on the Milton route (as was 10801, by coincidence). Still nearly all 07-plates on the Babraham Road route; I've seen 10799 once but no others.

Should be Three NEW Greens out today.....10796/7/9.    10800 is being prep'd in the Depot & 10798 was STILL in Liverpool...hopefully being delivered very soon !

Not previously reported this week, is that the Final Green NEW Park & Ride bus 10798 SN66VZW arrived sometime between  Monday to Wednesday, & was In Service today on its Babraham Rd route.

Flipping brilliant! 14 weeks following the changes, all correctly-branded vehicles are plying the amended routes.

Poor show Mr Campbell, say I.

Hardly his fault if the buses were 'purloined' for use elsewhere in the Group.....!!
