TrustyBus service reductions
« on: November 15, 2016, 05:48:36 PM »
Looking at the January 2017 version of the Intalink Service Changes (see here: http://www.intalink.org.uk/uploads/publications/1256.pdf ) , some changes are being made to Trustybus services

Route 392 (Harlow - Hoddesdon)

Service Withdrawn. I'm not sure if this is right, but I believe this used to be a contracted service but was taken over by Trustbus commercially (I'm really not certain with that, but can't seem to find out for sure). Will be interesting if another operator takes it over, or Essex CC contract it out.

Routes 410/410A/410X (Harlow - Hoddesdon - Waltham Cross)

Still half hourly. But, peak period reductions. Last buses earlier. Hunsdon served only in peak periods. Sunday service withdrawn.

Route 411 (Hertford - Waltham Cross, Sundays.

Withdrawn. Presumably because of the Arriva 310 now running on a Sunday.

Semi-related is that the EOS London Service 87 (which extends to WX on Sundays) is being withdrawn from 17th December 2016. This now appears on Traveline SE.

More company related...
The company recently had a Public Enquiry in Cambridge, which I did not attend, but I had a report from someone who did. No decision was reached, as the building was emptied at 19.00 by the building security team... A written determination is expected at an undetermined date.

It is all wef Mon02January, irrespective of any pubiished dates.  The 410 group is as you say, with 410X variation w'dn. Sunday 410/411 w'dn (because Xmas and NY fall on Sunday) the last Sunday operation will be 18 December.   The 392 is indeed being withdrawn, it lost its Sat service a while back so is now just M-F.  The 505 is also being cut, at present the Sat service (support byEssexCC) should continue, but the M-F commercial service is 'wdn' at present unless support from ECC comes forth.    Also in Harlow, the 418/A will run via the 419/420 routeing between Bus Stn & PotterSt, ie wdn via Old Harlow and Church Langley.  Thus this group goes back to Townlink's pattern.

Interestingly, it looks like it will stay. I follow the EOS London Twitter (where they regularly post service updates and reply to tweets), and they have said they are likely to keep the service, with a reduced frequency, following many comments from passengers about the possible withdrawal.

In fact, this is what they have said:

Quote
EOS London ‏@66EOS  · Nov 12

ROUTE 87 UPDATE 2 we have drafted a schedule for buses every 30 mins during peaks and hourly during the day.

 EOS London ‏@66EOS  · Nov 12

Route 87 UPDATE we have applied to continue with the service on a revised timetable.  We will keep you updated on our application.

New EOS 86 and 87 will be in their section.

That's right, the new 86 (Harlow - Waltham X)  timetable from next week will operate via Lower Nazeing. Although the 87 (Harlow-Epping) will still bypass Lower Nazeing.
The revised 86 will become a bit of a 'round the houses' route, as it will also start serving the Sumners and Katherines estates in Harlow from that date.

With the 505, just having a Saturday service is rather pointless. I can imagine passenger numbers further decreasing, as existing passengers may just get used to travelling another way (i.e TfL 397 to Loughton, then EOS 66 to Waltham Abbey).

I do wonder if a bus service operating Chingford - Waltham Abbey - Waltham Cross could be popular. But I'd imagine it would be too much out of London for TfL to operate, or too much in London (with TfL bus stations at both ends) for a commercial operator.
