Stevenage Bus Users might need a new chair...

Friday, November 25th, 2016 9:18am

A Stevenage man has been found guilty of eleven offences of non-recent indecent assault on children under the age of 14...

68 year-old Terry Figg, a former Scout leader from the Orpington area, was alleged to have carried out the offences between 1970 and 1980.

During his twelve-day-trial, Croydon Crown Court heard how he was accused of abusing boys.

Figg was initially arrested on the 19th of March, 2015.

He has now been remanded in custody to appear for sentencing December 9th.

The NSPCC has issued a statement: "Figg took advantage of the authority entrusted in him as a scout leader.

He has committed horrific crimes against vulnerable children who should never have been at risk of sexual abuse.

We hope this sends a message to perpetrators of non-recent abuse that they cannot hide from the law.

We also urge other victims of child abuse to come forward to allow the police to investigate such crimes. Anyone who has concerns about abuse or who is a victim can call the NSPCC's helpline on 0808 800 5000".
