Stagecoach CAMBRIDGESHIRE happenings 2017
« on: December 31, 2016, 05:19:06 PM »
Happy New Year, folks!

Please use this topic for all general sightings and happenings for Stagecoach operations and vehicles serving routes in and around Cambridge, Ely, St Ives, St Neots, Huntingdon including the busway, during 2017.

Do, please, keep posting in Stagecoach East changes from January 2017 about things specific to those changes, and in Cambridge Park & Ride Changes November 2016 about the recent P&R changes.

Best wishes for 2017,
Richard.

It would appear that NEW Park & Ride 10799 was delivered to Merseyside with the incorrect reg of SN66WAJ.  However, the attached Flikr photo taken yesterday, courtesy of GOBBINER show it now carrying its correct reg of SN66VZX

Old red P&R E400 19303 noted this morning heading northbound on the A1 south of Peterborough.  Another(?) was also heading in the same direction at about 4pm this afternoon.
Off to Bus & Coach World at Blackburn for centre door removal and then to Lincoln
Blue P&R E400 19296 and another unidentified red one in convoy northbound on the A1 past Stamford on Tuesday morning (3rd)

The 154xx Scanias appear to be quite common on the Milton P&R at the moment - I guess the green livery works pretty well...

All four orange-liveried (Newmarket Road) Park & Ride Enviro 400MMCs, 10807-10810, have now transferred from Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire, where they have been on loan, and were at Cowley Road depot in Cambridge this afternoon.

One of the Haverhill Gold Scania was in Ely today.  I could not see which one.  It would have arrived on the 12 from Cambridge.

Are the 10reg E400's going thru the repainting program yet?
Noted AE10 BWC today looking rather clean but minus any logos or fleet names.

Dick, they should be due as they're now 7 yrs old ! They normally come back from repaint without the vinyls, as they should do them locally (if they have a bodyshop)

I have to say the 10 plate Enviro 400s are still like new and have so much life left in them, I think Stagecoach see them as a great investment. I have heard they will be replaced with MMCs in the next year or two but they could easily survive another 5-10 years in Cambridge.

i must have not driven them ones, cause the 10 plate enviro's id driven at cambridge, the bodywork and paintwork was a mess! The actual buses to drive weren't great. and not very clean for the passengers!

Would be nice if there were some E40Hs in the mix. Would be even better if the City Deal lot actually put their money where their mouth is and chipped in to make sure there were some.

Last time I travelled on one of the 10 plate E400's, I was shocked at the state of the seats and floor inside for a 7 year old bus! They don't appear to have been looked after very well.....

Can only agree with the suggestion of hybrids - if they have them in Oxford why not here with similar narrow streets and pollution issues?

Except that Oxford have lost half their Hybrids to Manchester (& are likely to possibly lose the other 13, as well ?) You were saying ??

I'm afraid the Greater Cambridge City Deal will only have money for transport infrastructure improvements, not buses.

I shall be asking this question to the City Deal Joint Assembly meeting on 1 Mar 2017, 14:00:

Quote from: Richard, as member of the public
Will the Greater Cambridge City Deal become a Local Transport Authority (LTA) under the devolution proposals, or will this be the rôle of the forthcoming Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority?

If the former, will all the board and constituent members of the City Deal commit to replacing the current deregulated market model of bus service provision with one of franchising, whereby the authority specifies the services to be provided and bus operators bid to provide those services – akin to the system currently operated in London by Transport for London – thereby tackling the priorities for improvement which will increase passenger numbers and deliver maximum benefits to passengers.

Will they further commit to introducing integrated, smartcard, ticketing across all routes and all operators?

If the latter, will they commit to using all possible influence on the LTA to implement franchising and integrated ticketing?

IF any more NEW MMCs are ordered (?) for Stagecoach Cambridge, then they will replace older vehicles, such as the early 52-55 reg Dennis Tridents. This will then mean some of the 10-plates being cascaded to other East depots at Bedford, K/Lynn & Peterborough.
