Cambridgeshire CC timetable leaflets
« on: February 08, 2018, 04:43:40 PM »
I recently sent an FOI request to Cambs CC, for electronic copies of subsidised service timetables.
I got a set of these today, and I attach them as a ZIP file.
You can also download individual ones via the link https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/current_subsidised_local_bus_ser

You know I'd never really clicked that that Saturday Impington to Ely bus could make for a nice convenient trip...

One thing Suzy's request clearly highlights is the number of subsidised services for which the County Council doesn't produce a leaflet. Doubtless (?) there's some rationale, but if you compare the list of Cambs subsidised services
https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/travel-roads-and-parking/buses/subsidised-bus-services/review-of-subsidised-bus-services/
with the attachments provided by the County Council to Suzy, there are quite a few omissions. (Fortunately, Whippet still produce their own leaflets, so that covers a couple, but as for the rest...)

Of course, it's in the County's interests for subsidised services NOT to be used - that way they can be axed and contribute to budget savings. Just saying...

There are a few that haven't changed in yonks that I've still got old leaflets for, just I'm guessing not in the current format. Stagecoach and Whippet print their own.  12 and 204 from LA editions as I've not had one for those. 132 (Essex CC) and RH series also below.

Since the C2 and 390 are clearly County Council leaflets, then why did they fail to include them in their response to your FoI request? Of course, you could ask for a review of the handling of your request, on the grounds of an "incomplete response". This is the second time in a matter of weeks that I've seen a quite inadequate response to an FoI request from Cambs CC transport folk (the previous one related to the Busway). OTOH, you may feel you have better things to do!

That's annoying.  And the fact that we're paying for it anyway makes it even more annoying!  Have you complained to the council?

No sign in any of the lists of stuff you've received from CambsCC in the past few years of the 32 (operated by A2B on behalf of the County Council):
https://cdn.website-editor.net/0318478a35cd4c3589c9d8ecc78529ea/files/uploaded/service%252032%2520timtable%2520july%25202019_L8BwTfZAR5tnQmSjGEsA.pdf

and the 415 has changed operator (now with Dews) since the leaflet you were sent a couple of years ago (not sure about the times). So that ought to have required a new leaflet. But perhaps it didn't...

Technically, if the County Council don't produce a leaflet, then they're responding accuately to your FoI request. In future, perhaps also ask for a list of subsidised services for which the Council DON'T produce a leaflet? The two lists combined should then provide a complete list of subsidised services which can then be cross-checked against the list on the website.

415 as per Dews Website for now.
32 aware of but think that's other funding or something?  Not really sure.
Going through most of East Anglia and The midlands for new timetable volumes including a "greater" Cambridge coming this year/early next

p.s. Just grateful to get a reply lol

p.p.s. One PTE claimed not to produce timetable leaflets - as soon as I asked under Freedom of Information an entire box of non-existent timetables arrived the next day - persistence pays, but sometimes a "nae 20 questions please Suzy" or a kick in the unmentionables (proverbial) can also happen too lol

On loosely related business;
Hamilton & Buckbys 306 Peterborough serice is restarting once again this month - anyone got the last timetable?
Grant Palmer 29 (BBC cont) is still not operating - Julia is the St Neots market  still closed?

Service 28 (inclding the DRT elements) were withdrawn at tendering in 2019
"The FACT service 28 was cancelled back in July 2019. The County Council
tried to find an alternative provider but no bids were received when the
contract was tendered."

In addition to deregistiering 45A additionally A2B Service 75 is also changing slightly.

In answer to Suzy's question I have found the Hamilton's and Buckby's 206 timetable (dates from 2015) and have put it back on my Peterborough Bus Times website in the hope that it has not changed:

I must confess, I haven't been in to town on a Thursday to find out! (Now we're on permanent WFH I often don't leave the house in the week...) Having said that, the Saturday farmers' market is happening although with a pretty poor turnout.
