Hamlin Way Depot
« on: August 12, 2018, 11:00:05 PM »
Went round for my weekly inspection tonight although there appears to be no movement of buses either being shifted around the site or disappearing there has been develolments

For those of you that have never been to Hamlin Way Stagecoach had two yards either side of the road now in one of the yards there has been developments

Although there are a number of buses still in the yard, one old wooden building has been demolished and lays heaped on the ground, in its place is a new porto cabin building with a cheap and cheerful sign for Welbourns of Wisbech, the ground around the front and side of the building looks like its been dug up and relaid, possibly pipework in situ

The signs ref Stagecoach have been removed from one of the gates and replaced by yellow fragile roof signs

Coming back to the Welbourns sign it does look a temporary sign so whether they will have a new one on order as they are looking to expand or could it be they have the yard on a temporary basis until Stageocaches lease runs out, failing that are they just using the yard to repair all the knackered buses that are left and the sign is in place for the parts delivery driver

Welbourns have had a Stagecoach Dart in their Wisbech yard for many weeks now. My eyesight is too poor to read the reg. number at a distance.

Just checking out Hamlin Way, Welbourns now have a sign up on the main shed and all buses have been moved over the road

Kermit looks like it has now left Kings Lynn, and there is possibly two other corporate ALX400s gone

In terms of Welbourns yard it's completely empty of all Stagecoach and their own vehicles

This is very strange, looks like 18 Hamlin Way is the yard that has been taken over by Welbourns who have just moved all the buses over the road and put a sign up above the door

Could it be that Welbourns will have the servicing contract of these 15 buses which includes storage in their yard

15 buses will take up at least 60% of the yard, Welbourns would have enough space to store or work on anything else they have collected on behalf of other customers which they could repair in between

Up until now their has been no movement there in terms of anything stored

I believe a start was made last week in moving vehicles out of the old King's Lynn depot. Some already moved to Ely and Fenstanton

I have a look at the depot weekly. I'll update you what I see after my visit tomorrow night. Last week I saw a few tridents including Kermit, a few tempos and a BedfordBus Optare Solo with quite a few parts missing.
Thanks!

I've been for a look tonight. The BedfordBus is there but some buses have been moved. The Norfolk Green Trident is in the same place and so is the normal Stagecoach trident. Kermit has disappeared though. The tempos and a few other buses have been moved and parked up. Since I went last week the forklift (I think it's Bobcat) has moved as well. I don't know whats going on but something is. The Stagecoach In Norfolk sign hasn't been taken down yet either. I'm going to look at the Long Sutton depot again soon. I'll see if I can get some fleet numbers and see if anything has moved there. Since I'm from Long Sutton I see the Long Sutton depot buses every day! Hope I've helped by updating you!

Thanks!

Remaining vehicles here

ALX 400 AE55 DKJ and LX03 BWA
Tempo YK57 FHM
Versa Unidentified x 2
Solo Bedford Solo
Forklift Truck x1

Still no signs of any West Norfolk Transport vehicles here either, the yard near Sainsbury's they are doing work there so all of their buses appear to have dissappeared

ALX400 has been removed sometime today, if accident damaged Solo is now at Ely then there is an unidentified Solo parked up at Lynn, this Solo has never been used in service in Norfolk

Many thanks for the update. The two Tridents are 18343 (shown as pending repairs) and 17787 (for disposal).
The Tempo is 25129 and the two verses are 25268 and 25271.

I am at a loss in identifying the (Bedford Bus) Solo and wondering if it was used in April by Bedford drivers when they went up to King's Lynn to pick up the Solo SRs, E200MMCs and E300s?

Hi All,

Does anyone know what's happening with Kermit?

It is for disposal and I believe is currently on tender lists so may be not too long before it leaves Stagecoach., My guess is a Barnsley scrapyard.

In addition to Tridents in full Stagecoach livery being taken West down A47 on suspended tow on 26th @ 16.05 and 27th @ 15.10, just passed 47306 also on suspended tow at 14.40 heading West.
