Steven Knight Media  8) is reporting that 34425 is due to be transferred from Bedford to Peterborough to cover for the accident damaged 35104

34425's MOT ran out on 9th February and has been sitting idle in the yard at Bedford depot for the last 6 weeks. They'll have to put a new MOT on it before transfer

Steve Knight also reported that training darts 34421 and 34422 from Cambridge have Peterborough have been loaned to Bedford to cover shortages,  seems strange they have had a dart in the yard with no MOT and asking for loan buses, now they are planning to send a MOT failure back in return

My thoughts are that it would have been easier to put an MOT on 34425 amd kept it at Bedford amd Peterborough to keep their training dart

34421/22 are at Bedford due to an increased vehicle requirement due to the closure of Bromham road railway bridge by Network Rail for the Midland Mainline electrification. The decision to move 34425 was taken after 34421/22 had already moved. They have both been in service in Bedford for a few days now

Just wondered why they didnt MOT 34425 and ask for one dart, even now after 34421/22 have been in service for a few days why not send 34422 back to Peterborough and keep 34425

Just wondering thats all

See from SKM that Stagecoach East are having a big clear out of withdrawn buses to Ensign. What is the going rate for a bus, guess it depends on whether it is s runner or not.

34426 was on Peterborough citi services this morning (Cannot remember which one) - this still
displays Stagecoach in Bedford fleetname, but has Go West legals - so confusion all round.

Seems to be more and more older vehicles on Citi services these days than 12 months ago, what with
04 darts and older Tridents appearing on a regular basis.

I recall in ECOC days Peterborough seemed to be forgotten in terms of decent vehicles, it appears
that history is repeating itself. Unless of course there is a cunning plan that we do not know about!

An article on the Peterborough Telegraph website suggests that Stagecoach in Peterborough
may finally be moving from their Lincoln Road depot.

Having been in existence since the trams came to Peterborough in 1902, it is about time
it was relocated.

the full article is here:

https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/transport/stagecoach-bus-depot-in-peterborough-expected-to-be-relocated-as-council-plans-bid-for-site-1-8880085

However, I will believe it when it does happen. I have been in Peterborough for most of my life and
this has come up a number of times and nothing has happened. We shall wait and see!

I love that the pollution of public transport that will now (in theory) have to drive out of Peterborough to get to the depot increasing dead miles which in turn would increase pollution (I'll reinforce the 'in theory'). Whole public transport should be seen as the green choice of transport and is probably a lot cleaner than  a lot of cars that are on the road.

My other favourite moan is from people who are residents that live close to the depot. Weirdly the depot was there when they moved in, if the depot was such an issue then why move to the area????

I cant help but think it's more poor journalism than reality however how come public transport (especially bus) is seen as dirty and in the way.

I think that's my frustrations.

Is it feasible that Stagecoach could have the depot out of town altogether, surely the Lincoln road site is prime for houses, would be some profit there for Stagecoach, the money from a sale could build a better yard with better facilities on the outskirts of town somewhere near Amazon maybe or Boongate

The problem is that the Stagecoach Peterborough bus depot is listed plus there is fuel tanks underground.

The Stagecoach Lincoln Road bus is the ex tram depot.

It appears that the cunning plan has been revealed - The Stephen Knight website reports that talks
are in progress to transfer the management of the Long Sutton business to Stagecoach East Midlands.

So the King's Lynn - Spalding route ex-Roadcar, then Norfolk Green, will be under Roadcar once again!

What does this mean on an operational level then?

It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

It doesn't seem to have an operational basis but rather a bureaucratic one.  Like the transfer of Oundle to Kettering(?) and Midlands company, Long Sutton (in Lincolnshire) is being transferred to the Lincolnshire company.  Long Sutton is further from the nearest Road Car depot than it to Peterborough.  In LRCC days, the depot was at Holbeach which is further west and I think they had a Boston depot then. Now the nearest depot for maintenance would be Skegness - about twice the distance from Spalding compared with Peterborough. Also if Long Sutton is short of drivers, covering the duties from Skegness would involve more travelling time.

The Stagecoach Lincoln Road bus is the ex tram depot.

The Lincoln Road bus depot is not a listed building, and there are several instances where underground fuel tanks
have been lifted, and provided all the necessary works are carried out when they are removed (which would be taken into
consideration in any sale price) there is no reason they could not be removed.

As an aside, there are websites that list all the listed buildings

https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/england/peterborough#.XLBQb-hKiUn

And also my friend in the planning dept at PCC has confirmed to me it is not listed.

Stagecoach 34425 KV53 EZB doing service 1 Werrington to Orton yesterday on 25th April 2019 even had a trip to Werrington from Queensgate bus station.

It was a very smooth journey the whole way from the town centre to Werrington.
