Ipswich - Peterborough is still completely cancelled and the Sheringham line reduced to 2 hourly terminating at Cromer.  I think the later is because the issue with the new trains and the Sheringham line level crossings is still not resolved so they have to approach slowly in case of a wrong side failure of the crossing.

The 755s started operating to Stansted today.  They change from diesel to electric in the platform at Ely southbound and change back to diesel northbound at Ely.

Are they actually changing to Electric at Ely, the plan is for them to do so but so far they havent

A few weeks ago a driver on another forum said it would be Cambridge, for the time being.

The ones I have seen - and today travelled on - change power at Ely.  The drivers change at Cambridge. (I thought that was going to be Ely but it is not happening yet).  The guard comes off at Cambridge too.

If the guard gets off at Cambridge then I am guessing its DOO for the rest of the journey which means it changes to a penalty fare situation after departing Cambridge then

I did see one yesterday evening leave platform 4 heading towards stansted

And through Dimmocks Cote crossing (south of Ely).  Something has changed.

Apparently there was an issue with one recently where the pantograph didn't drop correctly on the switch over from electric to diesel and the pantograph then struck an overline obstacle (& then a bridge after it had been damaged and pushed upwards) so they are all running only on diesel until they can work out what went wrong.

It seems to be a bit random. Some are diesel only, but not all (travelled Ipswich - Stowmarket on electricity today).

This was before they started and stopped using electric

The Guards, mostly if not not all, work through to Stansted Airport. The Drivers change over at Cambridge both ways. They are not DOO south of Cambridge.

Not sure if this has been noted previously since the posts in December, but I noticed a 755 pass through north of Cambridge heading Southbound, pantograph up. Presumably they are now changing to electric at Ely as intended.

Strange move as the 755 should be on the Norwich to Liverpool St service, its the 745s that are on Norwich to Cambridge

Think you have your numbers mixed up.
The 755's have diesel engine cars, the 745's don't - and the unit I saw definitely had a engine car in the middle!

The 755's Operate the Rural Services out of Norwich and Ipswich.
The 745's operate the London to Norwich Intercity services and will eventually operate the London to Stansted Airport services.

755 - Diesel/Electric.
745 - Electric only.

755's are also operating between Stansted Airport and Cambridge on the Liverpool St. line. Sometimes in electric mode and sometimes diesel (with pantograph down)

A few of the 755's are currently running with their Pantographs isolated, hence running in Diesel mode through to Stansted....but from daily observations, this seems to be less of an occurrence.

Class 37, 37611 took 755405 and 755330 from Cambridge this afternoon, at around 1345.

This is the first time i have seen any of them paired up.

These might be the units that were stored next to the shed at Cambridge.  They were hauled to Crown Point - I assume for commissioning.

There have been various ones stabled at Cambridge over the last few months....but 405 and 406 seem to have had extended stays.

Very few there now. Should only be 2 (i think) stabled there nightly now.
