Blackpool Heritage Trams look for £1 million in donations to repair depot roof By Michael Holden Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours has launched a Crowdfunder to help complete roof repairs at their Rigby Road Depot.However, the cost of repairs has been valued at around £1 million pounds, and the group need your help.In 2012, Blackpool’s trams were upgraded to run with light-rail trams and since then, around 60 volunteers have continued to operate a fleet of 20 heritage trams for tourists and residents.Plans are in place to regenerate Rigby Road Depot into a museum, workshop and stabling area for operational trams, but these plans cannot progress until the roof is repaired.Blackpool Heritage Trams are looking for one million people to donate just £1 to help pay for a new roof. To donate your £1, click here to visit their Crowdfunding pageFor those able to donate more, a range of awards are available from Tram Tours up to driving experiencesIf the target of £1m isn’t reached when the Crowdfunder ends in 15 days, then the money raised will be put towards short-term repairs.£10,000 will pay for the replacement of all the guttering to help provide a short-term solution.Every £100,000 will mean that a portion of the roof can be repaired.
